The Physics of Lenses for Photography, Microscopy, and Astronomy

From advanced scientific pursuits to a cell phone camera, lenses are critical for focusing light and capturing images. I will discuss the basic principles by which lenses are able to bend light and create images of both very large and very small objects. Understanding lenses enables us to choose better binoculars, capture clearer photographs, and advance scientific understandings of the universe. -- Chris Kelly

The Wayne State Planetarium is dedicated to the promotion of science. We are proud to feature a series of free public lectures covering modern topics in science.
