Theories of particle physics are very successful at predicting the many properties of particles. Astonishingly, the one thing missing from the theory is why particles have mass. The favorite theory explaining why particles have mass predicts a new particle, the Higgs boson.

But alas, this mysterious particle has not yet been found! Stranger than science fiction, this fascinating topic will be the subject of a lecture by Wayne State Experimental Particle Physicist Professor Robert F. Harr.
