Science Under the Dome: Have You Seen Higgs?

Theories of particle physics are very successful at predicting the many properties of particles. Astonishingly, the one thing missing from the theory is why particles have mass. The favorite theory explaining why particles have mass predicts a new particle, the Higgs boson.

But alas, this mysterious particle has not yet been found! Stranger than science fiction, this fascinating topic will be the subject of a lecture by Wayne State Experimental Particle Physicist Professor Robert F. Harr.

As a bonus, join us after the lecture for a look at the current night sky in the dome of the Wayne State University Planetarium!
